STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Lois & Richard Nicotra Foundation awarded more than $30,000 in grants and scholarships to employees’ children and grandchildren, and as aid to non-profits dedicated to helping Staten Island.
The foundation awarded $34,433 at the ceremony, which took place at COMMONS Cafe in Bloomfield on Wednesday.
The Nicotras announced plans for a second social enterprise eatery similar to COMMONS Cafe, also located at the teleport as part of their newest development, Corporate Commons Three.
The new eatery, “Pienza, Pizza, Pasta & Porchetta,” will join the cafe’s mission to “Eat Good. Do Good.,” giving 100 percent of the profits to charity.
Corporate Commons Three will be an eight-story, 330,000-square-foot Class A office building. It will feature a 40,000-square-foot rooftop organic farm, beehives to make honey and a vineyard.
