More than 3,000 people expected to attend SIEDC business conference on April 29

Billed as the borough’s largest networking economic forum, the 17th annual Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC) business conference is set for April 29 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Bloomfield.

More than 3,000 business people and members of the public are expected to turn out for the conference, which will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and feature information from more than 150 vendors with most having their own trade show booth in the attempt to generate business leads from the public, along with educational seminars and mixers. There will be marketing materials handed around too, so if one of the businesses hasn’t had theirs printed yet, they may want to head on over to https://www.printivity.com/products/magazines/ to see what they can get done.

“This year’s conference will introduce companies that deliver commonplace services through innovative platforms,” said Cesar Claro, SIEDC president and CEO.

“The four new economy firms that are participating in the breakfast panel discussion, Airbnb, Feedme, KeyMe and Pager, will give our community a glimpse of what the future of business in New York City will be,” he added.

It was recently announced that the keynote speaker will be Preet Bharara, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, who oversees the investigation and litigation of all criminal and civil cases brought on behalf of the United States in the Southern District of New York.

He has been in the news of late as the lead prosecutor in the ongoing case against former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, which resulted in his indictment on bribery charges. His office is also looking into the disbanding of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s special Moreland Commission, created to weed out corruption in the state.

Also to be featured is the SIEDC “20 Under 40” leadership awards, presented to individuals under the age of 40 who live or work on Staten Island and are making a difference in their community and their respective field. In addition, the SIEDC “Top 31” Future People of Influence Awards will be presented to 31 individuals who are, predictably, the leaders of the future.

Seminars will focus on careers in the finance industry; careers in the media; careers in the healthcare field; small-business start-ups, and career advancement through higher education, among others. Those looking to learn more about each of these things may want to consider reading some informative business articles over on sites like this – https://www.jackrabbitjakarta.com/. Each seminar will be hosted by an Island business; the Staten Island Advance, for example, will be hosting an 11 a.m. seminar, “The Ins and Outs of Business Marketing & Advertising,” presented by Google. You can learn more about the importance of seminars from a marketing perspective in the finance industry by heading to the LeadJig website.

There will also be a panel discussion on business opportunities coming to the North Shore with the planned opening of the New York Wheel and the Empire Outlets.
